Dr Johanna Budwig and her Anti Cancer Diet
Dr. Johanna Budwig was a German biochemist and an expert on oils and fats. She had an extremely long life, she
was born 30th September 1908 and lived until 19th of May 2003.
Dr Budvig was remarkably strong and coherent even in her later years and if she had not suffered a fall at home,
from which she never recovered, could probably have lived to be100.
She was nominated seven times for a Nobel prize but unfortunately was never awarded it, she is famous for the
Budwig Muesli made from flaxseed oil and cottage cheese.
This is an alternative method for treating cancer and other serious conditions such as; arteriosclerosis,
cardiac infarction, strokes, stomach ulcers, arthritis, eczema and immune deficiencies.
Dr. Budwig was considered by some to be a genius. She had a Ph.D. in Natural Science, had received medical
training and was educated in physics, pharmaceutical science, chemistry, botany and biology.
She was employed as the chief expert and consultant for drugs and fats at the former Bundesanstalt fur
Fettforschung, now known as the Federal Institute for Fats Research.
Dr. Budwig was a writer as well as a scientist and a researcher. She wrote numerous books including Cancer, The Problem and The
Solution, Das Fettsyndrom (The Fat Syndrome), which discussed the links between fats and diseases of
the heart and lungs as well as cancer, Krebs, ein Fettproblem (Cancer ,A Fat Problem), on choosing and using the
right fats for the body, Der Tod des Tumors (The Death of the Tumor), and a great number of scientific papers where
she published her findings on the importance of the right fatty acids and the ill effects that eating the wrong
fats can have on human health.
The Budwig Anti-Cancer Diet was developed by Dr. Budwig in 1951 and has
aided thousands of people. There are testimonials concerning most types of cancers and tumors, even those which
were well advanced.
These relate how Dr Budvig helped even patients who were very seriously ill to regain their health through
following her nutrition regimen. The basis of the diet is flaxseed oil combined with low fat cottage cheese.
She was opposed to the use of hydrogenated, partially hydrogenated and polyunsaturated fats. She called them
psuedo fats and believed that the chemical processing the oils receive, causes them to turn into a harmful
substance which is deposited within the body.
Consuming those harmful oils results in blocked circulation, heart damage, prevention of cell renewal
and impediment to the flow of blood and lymph fluids. The heart, in particular rejects these fats and because of
this they become inorganic fatty deposits on the heart muscle.
Dr Johanna Budwig was deeply committed to her work and believed it to be very important. She
wished it to be carried on after her death. Fortunately she was approached by a natural alternative clinic in
Southern Spain and after discussions, she agreed to let them use her methods in their clinic.
It has since been renamed The BUDWIG CENTER in her honor. The work of Dr Budvig is still receiving attention, it was
recently scrutinized by Dr. Dan C. Roehm M.D. FACP an oncologist and former cardiologist, Dr. Roehm
states: "this diet is far and away the most successful anti-cancer diet in the world".
