The Butter substitute in the Budwig Diet

 

This recipe is used throughout the Budwig Diet as described in the book "The Oil Protein Diet Cookbook" by Dr. Johanna Budwig, which has over 500 recipes that utilize the healing powers of flaxseed oil.

Oleolox Recipe - How to make Oleolux

This spread will be used in place of butter.

Ingredients:

  • 250g Coconut Fat
  • 1 onion (medium size)
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 125cc Flaxseed Oil

Preparation:

  1. Cut 1 onion in half. Brown it slightly in 250g coconut fat heated to 100 degrees. Cook approx 15 minutes.
  2. Add 10 cloves of garlic and heat for 3 more minutes.
  3. Strain the fat through a sieve into 125ccm of Flaxseed Oil (previously chilled for 1/2 hour in the freezer)

Keep this mixture refrigerated and bring to the table in small portions. It should never be heated for more than a minute. If you prepare sauces according to the recipes in The Oil Protein Diet Cookbook, the sensitive unsaturated fatty acids of flaxseed oil are somewhat protected by the sulfhydryl group of spices (eg: pepper).
